Nothing is so inspiring as seeing big works well laid out, planned and a real engineering organization. - Frederick Handley Page

FOOTPRINTS is a technical fest of the Faculty of Technology and Engineering, the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Vadodara, which organizes over 50+ events with a footfall of 35K+ participants.

FootPrints provides students with a unique opportunity where budding engineers can meet with many innovative ideas, making them unleash their best selves as ideal engineers. Each year, this event provides students from a variety of areas with the chance to make new friends, discover their talents, and celebrate success and professional advancement.

CITADEL is an event of the Civil Engineering Department that aims to test all aspiring civil engineers' knowledge of the ideas needed to build complicated structures, from computer drafting to design and their ability to develop detailed paper presentations.

What does this department entail? As technology advances, so do the events that fall under this department's purview. However, the department's overall structure was developed with the fundamentals of Civil, Irrigation Water Management, and Architecture. Join us as we memorialise the attainment of the civil engineering department.

Tremors Truss

So, Let's take a look at EVENTS about CIVIL-IWM, ARCHITECTURE of the year 2022

The first in queue: A double-howe type truss that can withstand the application of an external impulse was required for the structure-based event known as the Tremors Truss. The opportunity to design with consideration for sustainability engineering was given to students. Like every other technical fest, this was our structure-based event this year and students were encouraged to prepare an adequate model of Truss. This year we provided the specifications for double howe type truss, made using popsicle sticks. Check out the link to see the detailed specification “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhSf4DSmup4” Those who participated and observed the event must be aware of the satisfaction it gives when the Truss sustains enough load and finally fractures. It was a feeling of accomplishment that, after a significant amount of time, the hard work paid off. For those who created it with dedication and dropped sweats, it was tough to see it fall apart—mixed feelings.

As they say, To succeed in engineering, one must possess soft skills and be familiar with relevant software. The benefit of knowing AutoCAD is that you can complete more tasks in half the time. In addition, the more software skills you have, the easier it will be to get hired and promoted. Without ever realising it, you may be proficient at least the bare minimum of the abilities to advance your career. Keeping this in mind, we designed the event called CAD-Creativity Aided Design. Participants in this event were urged to exercise their imaginations and devise a solution to the problem statement by designing a plan for a multipurpose building. An image doc file of the plan was to be submitted; the best plan which bides the building bye-laws and is developed keeping sustainability in mind was declared the winner. However, participants could also submit the plan in a hard copy of the A1 size full imperial sheet. This type of event helps you to learn more and show your soft skills; our experienced professors provide feedback on the design and plan, Which improves your way of solving a problem with a different viewpoint.

Another event, WWE- Walking with Evolution, has a rich legacy. It's a paper presentation event where participants can participate and present their work if they are interested in study and analysis, have read a research methodology, an initiative aimed at improving civil engineering, or desire to enhance civil engineering. It requires them to make a presentation to an esteemed faculty judge. Paper presentations laid the foundations of FootPrints as it was the basic idea in 2001 when it all started. After that, it was no looking back.  Each year the ideas that participants present are so excellent that even the faculty members are impressed. This event is aimed to inspire students toward research in their respective subjects, which will lead to improvement in their theoretical as well as practical knowledge.

“If we would have new knowledge, we must get a whole world of new questions.” ― Susanne K. Langer.

Questions, Treasure hunt, quiz, puzzles, crosswords, our next event, CIVIQ, is full of surprises. As the name combines CIVIL + IQ, The event is subdivided into different rounds. In the first round, students must crack the clue to reach a point where another clue must be hidden. Every clue and destination is related to civil engineering structures and components. In the next round, students must answer brainstorming questions via quiz round. Questions are generally cogent from basic to advance levels of civil engineering concepts. CIVIQ focus on testing your existing knowledge and making you gain more.

Through all these events, FootPrints embolden students to build a strong Network, Enhance their knowledge and come forward to present or bring out themselves in the daily grind. With this, FootPrints also appreciate talent through prize money and awards.

Through cutting-edge contests, seminars, lecture series, and panel discussions considering many engineering fields, FootPrints is prepared to make significant strides. It also forges strong relationships with the leading engineering and technology companies and brings them together under one roof to debate the cutting-edge technologies paving the way for innovation.

So, What are your views on these events? Did you participate in any technical fest? How was your experience?

Have you been to FootPrints? If Yes, do share your adventures in the comment section below.  If No, you're missing out so much, dude; we would tell you to participate in the coming years.
