Have you ever felt that something is holding you back? from showing everyone the real you! The one that has a hidden talent. Are you the one which hasn't been able to connect with people, the one who's heart starts  beating a little fast when their turn comes in? Well we know that feeling but it's sorted now, we came out of our own individual shell! Nothing would elate us more than helping out people of our age group going through this and that is why we have a jampad set up for whole 3 days during our live event.

Jampad Stage

So, what is the concept of JAMPAD huh?

I'm sure most of us have visited some cafes or must be knowing about jamming sessions by budding musicians or about open mics (as the name suggests it is open to all) where people can come on the stage and perform anything be it story telling, poetry or mimicry. Our concept of JAMPAD is a combination of all of this!

And what do we do?

We have a dedicated stage for enthusiasts who come to participate in our event. Our motto is for students to gain knowledge and to have fun too. Jampad is basically a platform that helps you kick out your stage fright without having a fear to be judged. We know it's easier said than done and that is why 2-3 members of our team are given duty on  jampad to engage people (though it sounds formal/ boring to be called "duty" but it definitely is the dream duty our team members crave for during the event).

Why is JAMPAD a dream duty?

The team members who enjoy the most during the event usually belong to this so-called "jampad" community. Why? Because we get to meet all kinds of people who visit! Funny, boring, shy, smart, oversmart, jolly...you name it. The best part is we get to be friends with all of them literally. We get to see all of them lining up, waiting for their chance to showcase their talents. Their excitement is what keeps us going. Some way or other we also act as a feedback system for our event for the reason that they share their experiences of the competitions they participated in, whether they won or not and about our management!  Apart from this we also announce the timing of everything be it guest lectures, workshops, our sponsor's name who support our event or any competition that is going to start soon.

What did we do to engage people?

• Tongue Twister challenge - This was open for everyone to participate. The game is very simple, the one that can repeat the tongue twister in very short time and fast of course, wins. We saw a good amount of people willing to participate. One of them even challenged our team member which we lost by the way :)

• Push-up Challenge - As the name suggests, the one who does more push-ups against the opponent wins. Boys were literally pushed on the stage by their friends to show everyone what all the gyming they did was about. It felt great to watch people cheering and hooting for them. It certainly created a feeling of oneness among people, strangers to each other.

• Garba - Well any occasion or event in Gujarat is incomplete without garba. It took no time to start because of the 'josh' that everyone showed. Even our team members joined them, it also acted as a stress booster for them after being exhausted hosting competitions all day. We all danced our hearts out. When it was concluded with 'timli', they asked us to organise it tomorrow too.

• Karaoke - The part that everyone enjoyed. We gave the stage to people who wanted to sing with background music. We saw talent ranging from rappers, romantic singers, beat boxers etc. One of our team members sang the Shinchan and Doraemon's theme song to make everyone comfortable with the concept of karaoke. Our stage was blessed when one of the workers from our college was pushed by fellow workers to sing. He sang beautiful Bollywood retro songs, that even the participants hooted for him and asked once more. This "once more" made him sing 7-8 songs. It was a sight to see.

What did participants perform?

They did everything! (Not kidding) Be it dancing, singing, telling jokes, stories, flirting, etc. One of them did a break dance and we were awestruck. We had a guitar of one of our team members which we kept on jampad, open for all to play(if they know) or to click photos for that sake. We saw a talented individual who  played guitar while singing. His voice mesmerized everyone. He kept coming on jampad to perform as if he understood our motto very well. At the end of the second day we just sat there, everyone telling their stories which somehow led to random couple dance. It was simple, everyone would sing a random song together and two random people (a couple) would dance. They enjoyed it quite a lot that evening. We should say it was the most memorable moment for them in our event, all of them laughing and making new friends.

Jampad Performance

At that point, we felt that moto of jampad was fulfilled to give them a platform to enjoy their college life, not just with their college mates but with others too (including us), to make them come out of their shell, to be the real themselves and to understand the meaning of oneness!

If you are one of our future organising team member reading this, then we want you to take the opportunity of becoming jampad ot because what we jampad ots make others do on stage is what we first do with each other i.e removing our stage fear ( and have fun too).

At last we just want to say that

Fear is nothing more than an obstacle that stands in the way of progress. In overcoming our fears, we can move forward, stronger and wiser within ourselves.

"I thought I wasn't good enough.

You made my existence so tough.

O fear, now I realize, it was all a bluff,

and you have already played enough."

"I lost many opportunities,

and now that I am sure of my priorities,

I believe I will break through

as life always gives a next chance to you."
