In engineering practical knowledge is more important than the theoretical knowledge. Right?

FootPrints provides a platform in which, you can apply  theoretical knowledge in practical application and get the best out of it.

FootPrints is a three-day national-level technical event organized for the last 22 years. We started in the year 2001 with 30 participants and today we have over 35,000 participation. For the last 22 years, footprints has been recognized as the largest technical event in Gujarat. There are various segments under which our event is divided. The event mainly focuses on the technical aspects of engineering. Students from all over Gujarat and outside Gujarat participate in the event. Students come with their model or robot, their robot fights or races with an opponent, perform activities, meet new people, and make new contacts. In this way the overall development of the participants takes place.

FootPrints has many technical events pertaining to different engineering departments. For mechanical and metallurgy engineering there is MACHEANEMA.

In this segment 3 to 4 model making, knowledge based event and paper presentation events are conducted.

Burnout

Burnout In this event the  participant have to build a car powered by IC engine ,which enhances their knowledge in the field of automobiles. On the day of the event,  the sound of these car adds to the splendor of the event and give chills to everyone present! Basically this event is car racing event with different type of obstacles placed on the track to make the race more thrilling.

Ballista In this event,  the participant has to make an X-bow and shoot their shots at different height and distance using mechanisms like elastic, torsion, etc.

This year we designed two rounds. Tic-tac-toe was played in the first round with the winner advancing to the second round.

The second round was a cross word type round in which the participants had to shoot with X-bow and create a subject related word to be studied in the mechanical department.

Hydrex Arena 

The next event is a hydraulic base event called Hydrex and in this event the student has to design a hydraulic crane which should be capable to scoop and place.

This year we made an arena in which sand was filled in a box for participants to perform scooping and placing.

Ascender which is also hydraulic base event which was held in 2018 in this event The participants have to build a machine propelled by hydraulics which can climb a given vertical rod and build a hydraulic arm with a hook attached to the machine to lift the given load.

So after model making event there is one knowledge base event called as Gizmo. In this event knowledge of the participant is tested by solving quiz, puzzles or exciting task. Which is helpful for the student to enhance his technical knowledge.

 Engineering design oriented event is also conducted called Design-o-mania.

In this event first round is of online mode, where participants have to design different views of the given topic and send us.

The Second round of this event is offline round. In which the participants are given a physical model and have to draw different views of it.

We also have  paper presentation based event related to mechanical and metallurgy department in which our PhD level professors are appointed as judges. The research done by the students while making the presentation adds to their knowledge.

So in this way the students improve their technical skills from FootPrints. For engineers,  technical event is a way to learn while having fun, when our organizing team visits various colleges they are sometimes amazed at how people are waiting for being a part of FootPrints! It is like a technical festival where people come and meet new people, make new friends, grow a bit technically, travel a new city and finally enjoy the concert!
